From the Spring of 1971 until the Spring of 1973, during my Heyford years at RAF Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, England, a 1970 BSA A65 Lightning like these pictured here, was my primary form of transportation. In 1972, I rode to Stockholm, Sweden, and back.
"BSA stands for Birmingham Small Arms (Co. Ltd.). A significant armaments manufacturer, BSA and others in that industry, had the technology to produce internal combustion engines, upon its invention at the turn of the 20th century. BSA became the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer. In the early 1970s, BSA was taken over by the Norton Villiers Triumph Group."

Lyric source: http://www.steppenwolf.com/lyr/brntbwld.html"Born to be Wild" was used on the soundtrack of the film "Easy Rider" (Released: 14, July 1969). The film tells the story of two young men, Wyatt (played by Fonda) and Billy (Hopper), who "went looking for America but couldn't find it anywhere." Some see the film as representing the embodiment of the hippie ideals and lifestyle of the counterculture of the 1960s. An alcoholic ACLU lawyer George Hanson (played by Jack Nicholson) comments: "This used to be a helluva good country. I can't understand what's gone wrong with it". The film ends with a graphic representation of insecurity and intolerance in certain parts of America.
General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark
This aircraft was one of the more controversial aircraft ever to fly, yet it achieved one of the safest operational records of any aircraft in USAF history and became a highly effective all-weather interdiction aircraft. Thanks to the men and women who designed, manufactured, flew and maintained her, of which I was one.
